Mount Daraitan Tanay Rizal

Mount Daraitan Itinerary Guide

Mount Daraitan is located in Tanay Rizal. It took us around 4 hours drive from Pampanga to Daraitan. We arrived at the Barangay at around 4am to have our breakfast and registration process.

We started to hike at 4:55am. Since it’s weekend, there were already too many people and there was about 3 groups who climbed the mountain before us. This is not my first hike of the year. In fact, we did Mount Pulag at the month of January.

We took the long trail since according to our tour Guide, this is the easiest trail. Going up to the summit took us about 3 hours.  I’d say it’s not that challenging compared to Mount Pulag. Since it’s weekend, there was literally traffic going up and you have to wait for about half an hour for queues for photos.

The Summit

The view from the top is rewarding. By the time we get to the summit, there was no clearing but I still appreciate the view because of the limestone rock formation.

Going Down the Mountain

By the time we descent going to Tinipak River, I didn’t expect that the trail was so challenging. It was an endless 3 hours steep, rocky and tough slope. It was extreme and difficult that my knees almost gave up. I don’t really recommend it for beginners. You won’t appreciate it. I was so exhausted that I really wanted to go home. ☹

Tinipak River

As we arrived on the other side of the mountain where the Tinipak river is, I was amazed by its view. Surely you can compare it to Minalungao. The rock formations are truly breathtaking and the crystal water is so relaxing.

The Cave

We headed straight to Tinipak Cave first before plunging into the river. As we get closer to the cave, we can’t help ourselves but take some photos of the place.

Getting inside the cave is quite another challenging part since you need to crawl down for about 3 meters and get greeted by a very dark tunnel. Do not forget to bring your headlights or flashlights here! If you are claustrophobic, this place is not for you. From the entrance of the cave going to end part took us 15 minutes. The most rewarding part here is to swim in the cold water inside the cave. I assure you it’s the best feeling you can get after a very exhausting trail.
